About Us

Who We Are and What We Do

Snake Conservation Society, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 public charity dedicated to the conservation of snakes. Our purpose is to increase the public’s knowledge of, respect for, and appreciation of snakes; to promote the biological and cultural importance of snakes to the world’s ecosystems; and to promote responsible management and conservation of snakes.

We do this by:
  • Educating people about snakes, their conservation and management.
  • Raising people’s awareness of the values of snakes to humans and to the environment.
  • Providing resources to educators and conservation professionals to more effectively communicate about snakes to their students, colleagues, and clients.
  • Giving individuals and entities the opportunity to donate online, in person, or by mail to support our activities.

We are an all-volunteer organization. Our board members include formal and informal educators who have incorporated snakes into their curricula and/or lesson plans. Two of three board members have authored books or parts of books about snakes. All have shared their knowledge of, fascination with, respect for, and appreciation of snakes with people from pre-school age to elder care.
